Avatoon® - Avatar Maker is a creative entertainment platform designed to generate personalized cartoon characters. This application allows users to build stylized digital avatars that can be used as social media profile pictures, emojis, or digital stickers.

Architecturally, Avatoon uses on-device computer vision models to simplify the initial avatar creation process. When a user uploads a portrait photo, the facial landmark detection engine maps key facial structures, such as face shape, eye coordinates, nose profile, and mouth shape. This geometric map is then matched with on-device vector assets to generate a base cartoon representation of the user.

Alternatively, users can build their avatar manually. The engine handles customization dynamically, allowing users to select and layer different hairstyles, clothing, and accessories onto the base model. Once an avatar model is finalized, the app's sticker engine automatically generates custom emoticons and sticker packs starring the character. These stickers can be exported directly to external messaging apps like WhatsApp or Telegram.

An interesting application of Avatoon's photo-editing tool is for digital privacy. Users can insert their cartoon avatars into real-life photos, using them to obscure the faces of family members or children before sharing images publicly on social networks.

However, the application has some design limits. It is ad-supported with in-app coin economies and premium purchases. The character models are built on a uniform baseline, meaning users cannot adjust physical proportions like height, weight, or body type. The app also uses gamified reward loops, unlocking premium cosmetic items via an in-app coin economy. While this adds a game-like element, it can restrict customization choices for free users.
