AndBible: Bible Study
Overview
AndBible stands as a unique, community-driven open-source project in the digital Bible study landscape. Originally developed by Martin Denham and now maintained by Tuomas Airaksinen under Sykerö Software, AndBible is a non-profit, ad-free, and completely free application released under the GPL-3.0 license. While commercial platforms often lock advanced analytical tools behind paywalls, AndBible provides a powerful, multi-window study engine entirely for free.
AndBible is powered by the CrossWire SWORD project. This framework connects users to a vast library of over 1,500 legal study resources in more than 700 languages, including Bible translations, commentaries, lexicons, and historical maps. The defining architectural feature of AndBible is its "Workspace Manager". Users can create multiple separate, customized workspaces tailored to different contexts. For instance, a user can set up an "Academic Workspace" with parallel Greek texts, a split-screen commentary, and Strong's parsing tools, and a "Personal Devotions Workspace" with a simplified layout and a daily reading plan.
For advanced study, the app features deep integration with Strong’s Hebrew and Greek concordances. Tapping any parsing number instantly opens original-language definitions and grammatical keys. The app also features "Study Pads," which allow users to compile scripture references, draft sermon outlines, and write formatted rich-text notes while listening to sermons. The app also includes a robust, highly customizable Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine. This allows users to set bookmarks and listen to both the biblical text and theological commentaries while on the move.
While the utilitarian, text-heavy design presents a steep learning curve for casual readers, AndBible is highly valued by pastors, scholars, and power users who need an advanced, privacy-first study engine. The application does not collect or share user data, and the community is currently working on its first cross-platform build to expand the application to iOS devices.

Hot Reviews
For serious study, this app is unmatched on Android. Having a completely ad-free, fast, and multi-workspace study tool with Strong's concordances and Greek/Hebrew parsing is incredibly valuable.
The speed at which search results load is incredible, and the level of customization in the split-screen layouts is fantastic. The open-source, non-profit model is a breath of fresh air.
A recent update has introduced a frustrating bug where searching for terms using Strong's numbers no longer bolds the searched terms in the results pane, making parsing much slower.
The commentary integration is excellent. Setting up synchronized scrolling between the scripture text and Matthew Henry or John Gill commentaries makes sermon prep highly efficient.
